| On the Case... | ||
| Concertinas are rather expensive and susceptible to damage, so one had better have good protection for them. Seán Fallon makes the best cases for concertinas I've ever seen. Given measurements of your concertina, he'll set the blocking for a snug fit to prevent shifting or sliding inside. And he can even do blocking for unusual concertinas. | ||
| The first case I got came with the Edgley A/E concertina. If the customer orders a case with the concertina, he is provided with one made by Mr. Fallon. After receiving that and deciding to order another concertina I realized a double case would be most convenient and asked one of those from Seán. In this case I asked for the middle pocket between to two concertinas to be omitted in order to make the case as small as possible. I wanted it short so that it could fit in the locking file cabinet at work and in the under-seat storage on airplanes. At 17 inches, it works out perfectly, even fitting under-seat on irritatingly small planes like the Canadair Regional Jet. | ||
| Then I had a case made
for the Dipper. Finally, after sending some pictures and measurements of
the Tedrow Concer-Tiny, Seán worked out a way to support it in the case.
That one is shown below with the blue velvet lining. The cases are really well made and have all the niceties you could think of wanting. All edges and ends are reinforced with either aluminum or steel, the interior is well padded under the crushed-velvet lining, the shoulder strap is incredibly handy, and there are rubber feet on both the bottom (as you would open the case) and the other bottom (handle up) so as to avoid scratching the surface it's resting on. The latch is designed so that there is no way it could accidentally get knocked open while the case is being carried. |

| When I realized I had four of these, I decided it was time for a web page! | ||
